Generals Wives

Generals Wives is a gorgeous block of the month that celebrates the lives of 6 Union Generals' Wives and 6 Confederate Generals' Wives. The center block is the insignia of the First Star General of the Army and its history. The line of fabric is created by Windham Fabrics in rich tones and exciting patterns. The Girl I left Behind Me The Girl I Left Behind Me is a Block of Month program designed by Jerry Stube of Quilters Quarters. In 1922, a very popular magazine, The Farmer's Wife, held a contest asking one simple question: "Would you want your daughter to marry a farmer?" Laurie Hird, created 111 traditional, 6" quilt blocks, resulting in The Farmer's Wife In her book, Laure Hird shares the letters, and images of each of the blocks minus instructions. Our very own, Lynn Dirkse, has written rotary cutting instructions to help you every step of the way. This is a 14 month program. You will receive fabric and cutting instructions for 8 blocks each month. The book, The Farmer's Wife Sampler by Laurie Hird, is sold separately. Quilters Quarters’ Block of the Month Quilt Program & Club Policy:

When you register for our block-of-the-month quilt programs, it is understood that you are registering for the entire program. We will abide by this policy and prepare a kit for you each month with the understanding that you will remain in the program for the duration.Sometimes life gets in the way and you have to change your plans. If something happens that causes you to need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible! Our $25 “sign up fee” is applied so that we may offer you the quilt at a reasonable monthly fee without a large payment at the end for borders, binding, etc. Should your needs change and you need  to cancel , however, it is not refundable.

What happens if you make a mistake? If you should make a small mistake on a particular piece of fabric you can call and request a replacement. We will be happy to accommodate when fabric is available provided this policy is not abused. If you make a large mistake we usually have extra fabric available for you to purchase at a small price. Please just call and discuss it with us.
