The Portolan Rose *
108" square
$154.99
The Portolan Rose is a beautiful
combination of pieced blocks, incredible center medallion, and
flying geese surrounding the center. This quilt setting looks
far more complicated than it is. Each row is pieced strip
style then rows are pieced together for the completed quilt. This
quilt, made entirely from Home for The Holidays fabric, is both
romantic as well as whimsical in design with the deep floral colors
and the distinct scallop print. It will feel as though you are
sleeping in a garden; so realistic you can almost smell the roses.
The appliques come pre-cut
with fusible backing for a truly quick finish to the center.
A needle-turn applique kit is available
if you prefer. Includes pattern templates and fabric for only
$10.
Each finishing kit comes with a FREE
copy of Marti Michell's template DVD

Every quilt should be as beautiful on
the back as the front: ours is no exception.

You will need 9 3/4 yds to for the
backing. We chose the large floral print in cream, but you
may choose the one that suits your taste best.
$87.65
What could be better than 2 quilts for
the price of 1?

That is what has happened with The Portolan
Rose! When piecing the flying geese we found that we had quite
a few triangle pieces left. Being the frugal quilters that we
are, we designed a second quilt using only the left- overs. At
the Quilters Quarters we never feel that we have scraps; instead we
have "quilt seeds" for the next one: so that is what we have named
this second quilt:

Rose Seeds

This quilt is
TOTALLY FREE!
Use it as a throw, a wall quilt in the
room with your Portolan Rose or give it as a gift so your loved one
can also enjoy your rose garden. It really does not matter how
you use it as it is TOTALLY FREE.
(ok we will be honest, we added additional
border fabric to complete this quilt but we did not charge
extra for it)
A quilt this beautiful needs exciting
pillows.

*Wondering exactly what a
Portolan Rose is? Portolan charts first made their appearance
in the 1300's; the term "rose" comes from the figure's compass
points resembling the petals of the flower. Originally this
devise was used to indicate the directions of the winds (sometimes
known as the wind rose or Portolan rose). Want more information?
Google Portolan Rose, it really is interesting.
Portolan Rose was pieced by Lorri Bashein, quilted
by Theresa Ward, and photographed by Jay Carey Photographers
